Protect a PDF with password or unlock an encrypted PDF.
Input: Single PDF
Upload one PDF, choose Protect or Unlock, enter the password, and submit. Files are uploaded to the server, processed, and deleted after. Max 25 MB.
Server processing: file is uploaded, processed, then deleted.
Accepted: PDF. Protect: add password to an unprotected PDF. Unlock: remove password from an encrypted PDF. Files are uploaded to the server, processed, and deleted after. Max 25 MB. No local processing.
Protect or unlock one PDF
Upload one PDF, choose Protect or Unlock mode, then submit with password.
Start by selecting one PDF file and entering a password.
Protect / Unlock PDF lets you password-protect a PDF with 256-bit AES encryption, or remove the password from an already-encrypted PDF. Files are processed on a secure server and deleted immediately after download.
Select the PDF you want to protect or unlock. Files up to 25 MB are supported.
Select Protect to add a password, or Unlock to remove an existing password. For Unlock, you must know the current password.
For Protect, type the password you want to set. For Unlock, type the current password that was used to encrypt the file.
Click the button to send the file to the server. Processing uses qpdf with 256-bit AES. Download the result, then confirm the protection works in your PDF viewer.
Note: Your file is uploaded to the server only for processing and is permanently deleted after you download the result.
